Congratulations to our January, 2020, Employee of the Month, Laurie DeLaune
Laurie DeLaune is a Certified Nurse Aide for the Callaway Good Life Center. She has been here for over 9 years. While working here Laurie has taken on many responsibilities. She saw a need for drivers and has learned to drive the bus and the van in order to take residents to appointments when she can. She is also our restorative aide and helps the residents with exercises that help them remain active and in good physical health.
Laurie has 3 daughters, Emily and Michaela of Lincoln, and Shalina who lives here in Callaway. She has 4 grandchildren, and loves to dote on them every chance she gets! Laurie’s hobbies include sewing and spending time with her family.
Laurie’s co-workers nominated her and had this to say, “Laurie helped corral the flood water in the break room when a pipe burst during the cold stretch. She cleaned up water as fast as she could while taking a shower at the same time. Thanks Laurie!” “I was to take a resident to the hospital and would need help so Cris said I could take Laurie with me. I told Laurie we needed to take the bus because it would be difficult to take the van. Laurie said she thought we could take the van and I told her I could not push the wheelchair up the ramp. She came back later and said she would take the resident and would have the girls help put her in the van. Thank you Laurie.”
We asked Laurie why she enjoys her many jobs and she replied, “I enjoy helping the residents have a better quality life and being able to live it to the fullest. They are like family to me and always brighten my day.”
