Congratulations to our September Employee of the month Karen Bomberger.
Karen began working at our facility in October of 2013. She took the job as Office Manager. Her experiences include teaching elementary children, working at Tenneco Automotive in Quality and Training, and working at BD on the factory floor and in the Training department.Karen enjoys fabric and sewing and has been known to get lost at JoAnn’s Fabrics! She also enjoys reading, music and gardening-even though it is sometimes hard to find the veggies for the weeds!Karen has been married to Glen Bomberger for 30 years and lives in Oconto. They enjoy visiting the kids-Tim, Tom, Amy and grandkids-Samantha and Frank in Lincoln. Glen and Karen also enjoy camping with the in-laws in Farnam or at Hidden Valley.
When asked why she enjoys what she does, Karen states that she “enjoys interacting and laughing with the residents, learning about their lives and personal history. Our residents have unique stories to tell and a wealth of knowledge that we can all learn from. It is fun to tease them when I come to work and they always tease me in return!”
Karen was nominated by her co-workers who listed her willingness to pitch-in and help-out as important traits. They commented on her willingness to help out in the kitchen and help cook for special meals, including smoking pork for the family BBQ held in August. She drives residents to appointments and fills in for Jeanie in Activities on occasion. Karen works hard in the office to be sure that the facility is in compliance with Labor Laws and to make sure that the employees are paid and benefits are kept up to date for them. Her organizational skills are very evident as she multi tasks in the office! Karen also serves on different committees to help make our facility better.
